Some (if not all) of the previous SOCOM guides have received poor reviews, but since this book has the online content written by a supposed SOCOM "clan", I figured they'd do justice to the online playing portion of the game. If you are the type of player who likes SOCOM for the single player mode, or even playing the single player mode with 3 other friends (online, cooperative mode), then this book looks like it will make you very very happy.
If, however, you are like me, and pretty much only play SOCOM to go online ("classic" mode) and join a team of internet folks to kick some tail of the other team online, you will certainly be disappointed. There is little to no information (in my opinion) that you could take from this book for online "classic" play that isn't already in the manual. It does contain maps of the classic mode multiplayer online locations, but they are roughly postage stamp size, and are of no help for use while you are playing (or even when you are not playing! Just too small!) The publisher promised full-size maps on their website, and when I logged in I saw none, and I looked thoroughly.
I just can't recommend this book for anyone unless you play single player only, or cooperative mode, which I'd guess is the vast minority of players.
