COMBATIVE FUNDAMENTALS an Unconventional Approach Review

COMBATIVE FUNDAMENTALS an Unconventional Approach

I read this book few years ago, after participating in an introductory pistol course conducted by the author. At the time, I thought it well written and a useful reference.
Since then, I've undergone several hundred hours more firearms training, some of which was again with the author, and keep coming back to this excellent resource with a deeper appreciation of its worth.
Mr. Gonzales has provided us with a book that keeps on giving, in that the deeper one goes into one's own practice and development with firearms, the more information and reinforcement can be gleaned from this excellent reference book.
I highly recommend it to anyone interested in, or involved with, firearms practice or training.
Sincerely,
Ron Flowers
Police Officer, SE Pennsylvania

I am a profession College Coach. I have read many books on so called "Leaders" in the sports World. Wooden, Knight, Bryant, Hayes, Lombardi, Coach K, Dean Smith, Patino could all learn something from this book. This book gets to the point and proves the correct and effective technique. I have read maybe 30-40 books on leadership and coaching and I will say that this book is the best book I have ever read. After reading this book I gave a copy of it to all of the Coaches in my Athletic Department, and my Assistant Coaches. I can tell you not one person has not thanked me for getting them this book.
If you are a professional business man or woman, a coach, a community leader, teacher, you need this book!

Interrogation of Morals Review

Interrogation of Morals

I loved this book. Its a perfect look into the day to day activities of an intel officer in Afghanistan. You don't have to be in the military to enjoy this book, but I was and can relate to some of the events and humorous occurrences that Jason talks about. If you haven't been in the military this gives you an inside look into what actually occurs behind the scenes during war. It also gives you a perspective of the smooth and mostly not so smooth operations of the military. I found the book interesting and entertaining.

Unbeatable Review

Stop making excuses. Act as if your life depended on it
Want to lose weight? Stop making excuses. Forget about fad diets. Try this instead:
Imagine that the life of someone you love ABSOLUTELY DEPENDS on your losing 15 pounds. Could you do it? Of course you could. Suddenly all the excuses you'd had in the past would be meaningless. You wouldn't find excuses. You'd not only lose weight, you'd walk through a wall of fire if necessary to save their life.
Apply the same technique to ANYTHING you want to do --- from stopping drinking, to ending procrastinating, curing a compulsion to gamble. Find an incentive that's strong enough --- one that puts at risk the life of someone you love --- and you can do anything.
Imagine for a minute that in every thing you do, your life is at stake --- even in ordinary circumstances. Going to the supermarket, for example, or driving down a highway. When you begin doing ordinary things in an extraordinary way --- as if your life were on the line --- life suddenly takes on a whole new meaning.
These are some of the secrets of living your life as extraordinary. Every second of every day is an opportunity to start all over. Failure has no meaning. Living life as a Navy SEAL means you become UNbeatable. Why? Because you never give up. "Failure" disappears from your vocabulary. The time you allow between failure and starting all over again drops from months, days or hours to zero. And when you develop the habit of starting again immediately, you are, quite literally, unbeatable.
Jack Schropp asks you to consider a lioness living in the jungle. If she returns from a day of stalking prey and comes back empty-handed, does she berate herself? Does she mutter, "Elsa, you pounced too soon." Do other lions chastise her, "Elsa, you've got to get your anger management under control. It's throwing off your ability to pounce." No, when the lioness misses, she simply adjusts and tries again. And again. Over and over, until she succeeds. Doubt isn't part of her experience. The only thing with meaning is her NEXT opportunity. Schropp encourages us to live like the lioness: Focused. Without doubt. And without meaningless self-recriminations.
Bellyaching? It's nonsense. Like SEALS, we're volunteers in most of the things we do in life. Nobody puts a gun to our head and forces us to get married or to take or stay with a dull, unsatisfying job. When we stop thinking of ourselves as victims and begin thinking of ourselves as volunteers, our whole outlook changes.
SEALS also know the secret of teamwork. Just as geese know to fly in formation, with one taking the lead for a while, then dropping back so others assume the lead position. None tire quickly because all in the flock take their turn at the helm. SEALs know that their lives, and the lives of their teammates, depend on everyone doing what they say they will do, when they say they will do it.
Most people who begin SEAL training never finish. At least 66 percent of the members of every SEAL class drop out before they graduate. Schropp includes a list of excuses trainees offer up when they quit (everything from "I didn't know it was going to be like this," to "my a-- hurts," or "I ran out of clean underwear. Honest.") Reading the list makes us realize how stupid people sound when they make excuses.
This book will help anyone prepare for a more rewarding future. And in doing so, it teaches another SEAL secret: The future is NEVER what we expect it to be.
This isn't really a book about SEALS. It's about living life effectively. It's not a self-help book, but it can be one of the most helpful books you'll ever read. It's not perfect. Sometimes it jumps around a bit. The writing is a bit uneven in places. But the ideas sparkle. They're practical. You can put them to work immediately --- in your personal life and in your career. And you'll see immediate results. Best of all, you'll gain access to a no-nonsense formula for living that can make you unbeatable. Count on it.

Seals at War Review

Seals at War
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Hoyt is both a noted journalist and military historian whose previous books include CARRIER WAR, HITLER'S WAR, and YAMAMOTO. His primary interest has been the Second World War so perhaps SEALS AT WAR: THE STORY OF U.S. NAVY SPECIAL WARFARE has taken him somewhat out of his element. The title of this curious book is misleading as the Seals do not even appear until page 119, about halfway through the book! The subtitle is, or should be, the actual title as Hoyt begins with the Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs) of World War II, continues with the establishment of the Sea, Air, and Land special forces (SEALS) in 1961, and concludes with the Persian Gulf War of 1991. Perhaps this is not the book the author intended to write or what the publisher expected as it is rather disjointed and appears to have been hastily put together. In fact, there are two books lurking within as there is a heavy emphasis on the UDT's efforts to clear beaches for amphibious assault in World War II and the SEALS brutal counter-terrorist activities in Vietnam. Only brief chapters are dedicated to such conflicts as Korea, Grenada, Panama and none at all detailing clashes with Iranian forces in the Persian Gulf in 1988. Overall, Hoyt presents a superficial overview instead of an indepth history of U.S Navy Special Warfare which is anecdotal rather than analytical. The lack of a conclusion or speculation regarding the future role of the SEALS is disappointing. His chapters are uneven and unsymmetrical with some as short as three pages and others as long as nineteen. His bibliography is impressive but his chapter notes are terse and specific documentation is non-existant as is an index. Despite its faults, SEALS AT WAR does provide a glimpse of the dedication, discipline, and heroism of the men who have made up the UDTs and the SEALS. It is an adequate introductory study but those seeking a more substantial account will have to look elsewhere. One hopes that subsequent editions will be revised and upgraded as this book's true potential has yet to be realized.

The Intuitive Warrior: Lessons from a Navy SEAL on Unleashing Your Hidden Potential Review

The Intuitive Warrior: Lessons from a Navy SEAL on Unleashing Your Hidden Potential
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This 193 page book is from 2009/2010. It is about the lessons our author learned as a Navy SEAL, especially the lessons using his well-honed intuition. Michael speaks of how accessing that intuition saved his life and also saved lives of others who have learned to access it. This book is dedicated to "all UDT/SEAL Warriors Past, Present and Future."
Former Navy SEALS will likely LOVE this book, because Michael speaks of the 24 years he spent in the SEALS and the training and experiences he had. Michael was stationed in turbulent places such as Iraq and in places all over the world. I would say the book is about 50 % SEAL experience (including his similar work as an independent security contractor) and about 50 % intuition and other related skills. The "other" might amaze many of you.
Michael explains a little about many of the "other" intuitive-related skills he developed. He mentions martial arts training and how it helped him to improve his mind/energy balance and focus. He speaks of the telepathic abilities he developed, where he could not only read the minds of team members, but also those of enemies. He speaks of an Out-of-Body experience (OBE), of astral projection (being able to see things as if you were in another place), of meditation (and how to do it). He talks about the Law of Attraction (how we attract what we put our attention and energy on), including how synchronistic events interplay in our lives. Michael explains a little about the Mayan culture, the 2012 alignment and energy changes, ancient cultures and beliefs, past lives, Atlantis and Lemuria, angels, ascended masters, and guides, the importance of NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP) (self programming), and getting your ego under control. Michael also taught some of these skills to other SEALS along the way.
You most likely know that SEAL training is probably the toughest training in the world. These men are truly "the elite" warriors. Our author has obviously developed both sides of his brain to the degree that few have or will. He has written this book to share his life-altering experiences with you, and from the perspective of one who MUST maintain razor sharp focus and clearness of mind at all times. This book is about training and utilizing the Warrior's Intuition to the degree and from the perception that few books will cover.
With all that said, Michael is also telling all who will listen and open their minds, that although most of us will never be SEALS, ALL of us can develop these intuitive skills. Wonderful book--small but packed with info--If you will open your mind to the possibility, it can suggest how to get started.
