(More customer reviews)Marliss Melton has to be one of my favorite new authors. She has only written six books but the last four about Seal Team 12 are great. She seems to have picked up where Suzanne Brockmann left us. I really like the stories about Seals, not only are they good guys but they are really putting their lives on the line for our Country. Her Seals are real men, men who can face the toughest of battle and the tenderest of emotions.
Soloman McGuire is a senior chief, he has faced the loss of his family and child when his wife ran off while he was on assignment. She wanted more than the life he could give her and she took his son with her. She has been gone five yrs and he has no idea where she is.
Jordan Bliss is in Venezuela attempting to adopt a young child she has grown to love, when there is a major coup. Jordan has not had an easy life, she has faced a cheating husband and the loss of a baby. She is determined to save one little boy.
Jordan's sister was a physical therapy nurse, she was there to pull Rafael Valentino back from death two yrs ago and now she calls him for help to save her sister. Rafe is with the FBI and shortly Seal Team 12 arrives to get Jordan, Soloman must pull Miguel from her arms and force her on the plane. He finds it hard to do but he is following orders.
Jordan fights and screams her way back home but she is determined to go back and get her child. Soloman can't forget the woman who would give anything even her life for her child.
The story is complex but brings the two people back togather, and Soloman slowly finds himself falling for Jordan, but even if she does fall for Soloman she will find a way to go back for Miguel.
I loved this book and look forward to many more from this wonderful author. Do not miss it, highly recommended.

Commander recovering from injuries he suffered in a mission that went so horribly wrong that he was the only survivor. Joe is dealing with a lot of survivor's guilt and blames himself for the loss of his teammates and takes to the booze.
His neighbor Penny (who has a long standing crush on him and who he has never really paid much attention to) coincidentally becomes his physical therapist (giving great massages!), then his friend, and eventually, his lover. But Penny doesn't expect much from Joe, because she's witnessed his love 'em and leave 'em lifestyle and she doesn't really expect a commitment from him.
Penny's somewhat irresponsible younger sister Lia comes to live with her due to the threats she receives from the person who she believes to be their father's killer. (Their father worked at a bio tech weapons lab where the deadly chemical ricin was a toxic by-product and some mysteriously disappeared and was sold. They believe that he was run off the road in a car accident because of what he knew.) Both Penny and Lia are now in danger and Joe decides to help protect them.
Penny and Joe's romance develops slowly and believably and becomes passionate, and when Penny's life is directly threatened, Joe questions just what she means to him and what he really wants out of life.
Lia (a bit reluctantly at first) has a romance of her own with a very sweet younger-than-her Navy SEAL. Even though he's younger, Vinny's much more mature, and helps Lia to grow and be more responsible.
Whew...this one really got to me. Two great romances in one book! I was dabbing at my eyes the whole way through! I especially loved that characters from the previous three books made appearances, too. Some, like Hannah Lindstrom working with the FBI on Penny's case, had significant roles. By the end of the book you will find out the latest with Gabe & Helen, Luther & Hannah, Sebastian & Lela, and Westy & Sara. The touching finale is like a scene from a movie.
If you enjoy reading Suzanne Brockmann, I can almost guarantee that you'll enjoy Marliss Melton's books, and I think that this may be her best one yet!

Losing those he'd loved at an early age and having suffered an abusive childhood from a vicious stepfather had left Chase emotionally bereft. As a sniper for the SEALS Chase was perfect for the job, not allowing emotional attachments in his life kept him at the top of his game. Sara Garret, a woman he'd only met a few times, begged him for help to escape the tyranny of her abusive husband, a JAG prosecutor. Chase couldn't turn down the woman with the sad but terrified eyes and the young son she was desperate to protect. Along the way to freedom, the adventures they shared brought Chase, Sara, and her young son closer. With each new day away from her husband, Sara gained back the strength and courage to begin anew even as an even bigger danger from a white supremacist group threatened to destroy the happiness that was almost within her reach. Love was not an emotion or an option for Chase in his line of business, but for a future with Sara it was the one emotion that was making him re-think his career choice.
From the very first pages, Melton engages the reader with a riveting style of writing pitting two unlikely protagonists together. From the first moment Sara gathered the courage to ask for help to escape, she questioned her choice of heroes. Chase was as emotionally detached as one could ask for, though it must have been fate itself that made her chose such an unlikely source. Melton keeps the action going and the romance elements in perfect harmony of the characters personalities in a very realistic manner that takes this read from the mundane to the exceptional. As my initial introduction to this author, I found this an outstanding read!
