Coming Undone (Harlequin Blaze) Review

Carolyn "Carly" Winters meets Lieutenant Jonathan "Hunt" Huntington when she accidentally sends an erotic fax to a Mayport Military Base.
She is a retired professional surfer. Her last competition ended in a terrible accident and she suffers from panic attacks whenever she gets near the beach. He feels a need to help everyone in need, but at what cost?
Coming Undone is sexually charged. Along with Carly and Hunt, the author weaves in two other strong characters, Samantha and Ty, who have their own story.
This is my first Blaze book and what a pleasant surprise it was. I really enjoyed the story, characters, and fast-pace writing.

Risking It All (Harlequin Blaze) Review

Risking It All (Harlequin Blaze)

Rina Calhoun makes a living out of filming documentaries. Her new love is filming extreme sports and all the players involved. While filming a video about on the edge surfing, she runs across a surfer that catches her eye and before she realizes it, she has made a video of him alone. She knows that this video is enough to give her the big break she needs to be treated seriously and move up in the filmmaking industry. There is just one huge problem. Rina's surfer, John Cashman, refuses to sign the release form and without his signature, the break she is hoping for won't happen.
John "Cash" Cashman would love to indulge the pretty filmmaker doing her best to convince him to sign her release form. However, she can talk until she is blue in the face but he can't sign it. See, he is in a bit of a bind. While Rina thinks he is nothing but a bad boy surfer, nothing could be further from the truth. Cash Cashman is actually an undercover Navy SEAL.
Loved, loved, loved Risking It All! Navy SEALS are completely sexy to me so I had no doubts that I would be enamored of Cash. I was. The fact that he was undercover added to my illusion of the big bad protector and I just could not get enough of him. Rina's character was the perfect complement to Cash's. While she had reservations about his career, and rightly so, I love how she came to grips with her feelings and was able to make the right choices concerning her relationship with Cash. All in all, Stephanie Tyler has written a sensual, satisfying, and totally enjoyable book with Risking It All. I can't wait to tell my friends about it.

Q: Is he a surfing slacker or decorated navy SEAL? A: Try both.

What is it about extreme surfer John "Cash" Cashman?Ambitious documentarian Rina Calhoun has filmed risk-taking sports enthusiasts before, but she's never made a private tape of one of these bad boys…. And it turns out the daring, hot movie version's got nothing on the real thing!

But Rina's X-treme documentary is turning into an X-asperating docudrama, since Cash won't sign her release form. No paper from him, no big break for her.

Cash wants to help the fiery little number behind the lens, but he can't because his secret life as a navy SEAL has him deep undercover. Yet as Rina stumbles into the line of fire, all bets are quickly off. He's risking everything to save her. But will it be enough?

I have loved Christina Skye's contemporary thrillers/romances, but this one is a bit of a let down. I won't go into a description of the plot as that has been done very well by other reviewers. But I would like to say something about the character development. While she has established the characters, their backgrounds and the plot, the female character's personality is stagnant throughout the story. The woman becomes extremely annoying because her reaction to every situation is the same, basically she feels that she knows best and she will do what she wants to do. This results in her bodyguards themselves being exposed to unnecessary risk, but after an initial burst of repentence, she does it again and again. The character is supposed to be kind and compassionate and loyal to her friends, but her actual behaviour paints her as selfish, stubborn and careless of other people's lives, not to mention just a little bit stupid. It just doesn't make sense. Wouldn't a supposedly bright person learn from repetitive mistakes (especially those involving gunfire!) and grow up a little? Frankly, I cannot see what the male lead is supposed to see in her.

SEALed with a Promise Review

I bought this book and wondered if it would draw me in as well as her first book had. Yes, Mary has a knack for bringing real men to life. Pulls and tugs between our hero-straight from Afghanistan-and the woman he meets at a North Carolina wedding (amid southern values, old secrets, and normal family problems) kept me reading page after page. A great addition to my bookshelf.
